Multiple Injured as Turbulence Impacts Delta Flight into Sydney, Australia

Several people have been injured following a Delta flight from LA to Sydney was hit by significant turbulence Friday morning.

Flight DL41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it landed at Sydney Airport, an airline spokesperson stated. A number of the onboard staff required medical attention.

Emergency medical services stated they treated five individuals, and took a trio to hospital with minor injuries that such as spinal discomfort and head pain. The injured spanned from their 30s to 70s.

It is the latest incident of planes encountering severe turbulence, with experts saying that climate change is a key driver.

On board were 245 passengers and fifteen staff members on the wide-body jet, the representative added, stating that the plane landed "safely and normally" at the airport at shortly before 7 a.m. on Friday.

Paramedics indicated they were alerted just a mere three minutes prior to the plane touched down, and response teams were ready and waiting at the airport.

The reasons turbulence is getting more frequent - and often stronger.
